Word of the day
The “Word of The Day” is a simple, free accessible reader of free daily web content provided by the www.TheFreeDictionary.com website.
With this program you can LISTEN to very interesting sections one can find in the free content feeds provided by the site. They include “quote of the day”, “article of the day”, “today’s birthday”, “this day in history” and of course “word of the day”. Every day you have an oportunity to learn something new and interesting!
The content is downloaded from the website at the start of the application. Then you are presented with the (sonic) menu where, by using arrow keys, you choose the section you want to listen. When you want to quit, just press ESC or select “exit program” in the main menu. This simple and pleasant auditory interface makes the application fully accessible to the blind and visually impaired users.
Please note: the “Word Of the Day” program uses a SAPI5-compatible voice to speak out the downloaded content. If you are using Windows XP (or later) you should be able to use at least one standard, preinstalled voice (Microsoft Sam). Other, much much better voices can be found on the Internet.. If you are using older version of Windows or haven’t got any SAPI 5 voice installed, please download and install SAPI 5 components from the Microsoft’s website.

After successful instalation, you’ll find a new folder (named “Klango”) on your desktop. Open it and click the “Launch the Word Of The Day” icon. Alterantively, you can run Klango and select “Word Of the Day” in its main menu.
